Before I end my full-time job as a mom and return to workforce, I enjoyed every single moment I had with them, despite the tiredness and struggles.

I like the way Big K holds little k's hands.

So sweet and feels as though he's protecting her always.

The way he looks at little k with loving eyes.

How are we into the 3rd month with two children?

We have definetely become more steady and calm being 2nd time parents.

Daily affairs such as feeding, changing diapers, bathing and making little k sleep, has become easier the 2nd time.

Suffice to say, we still encounter challenges, as each baby is different in terms of temperament, habits, likes/dislikes.
It is an achievement each time we hit the right button, that is, making little k soothed, contented and comfortable, and finally to sleep. The feeling is similar to having "Conquered another battle"

With two rascals, it has become a "mad-house" every single day.
Especially in the mornings, if both wakes up at the same time, demanding milk.
When both needs to be bathed.
When we have to prepare and get K ready for school.
When both simply demands "ATTENTION"
It's a crazy non-stop action most of the time and without knowing, another day has passed.

Frankly, being a stay-at-home mom is no easy task.

Being parents is more than a full time job.

Often, you feel so uptight, you have your meals in a rush, having toilet breaks in a rush, doing task in a rush.

You feel you have 1001 things on your mind, multi-tasking like an octopus.

You simply have no time to sit and relax.

With each child, there is also lesser "ME" time.

You become so tired at the end of the day, you have no more energy to even talk to your other half.

I hope this is just a transition and things will get better as they grow a little older.

I appreciate my 2nd maternity leave more as I get to spend time with K.

It means alot when I get the chance to involve in his daily activities, enjoying quality time I missed out during office hours.

I will surely miss this time with my children when I go back to the work force in 3 weeks time.

Little k is 2 & 1/2 months old

k turns 2 & 1/2 months old today.

Been 4 weeks after her 6-in-1 jab and she's feeling much better.

She's a lot better to take care of now. She starts to take 100ml of breast milk every 3-4 hours again.

She smiles more, and makes more coo-ing sounds daily.

Other than that, she basically just drinks, sleeps, urine or poo :)

Night feeds are shorter now, she doesn't play as much.

Drinks and sleeps. Yipee!

Nap and sleeping time are faster when she have someone accompanying her.

So as long as you are beside her, it's easy to put her to sleep. She hates to be dirty. So as long as she gets changed after urinating or pooing, she will then continue to drink her milk, sleep or play.

Celebrating our 5th anniversary today.

Today, we are celebrating our love, renewing our wedding wows once again, with two beautiful children of ours.

What more can we expect in life…

Let’s continue to keep the flames alive, with many more years ahead of us.

Keeping a marriage alive involves a lot of hard work and commitment, which is especially challenging when faced with daily work, children, bills, house chores and personal agendas/goals etc.

But Today, I still want to give “THANKS” for all hubbies’ help (in big and small ways)
Thanks for helping me catch cockroaches, lizards, bugs, all other insects that I have phobia for.
Thanks for being my technical support for computers/phones/electronic devices.
Thanks for giving me moral support when I need.
Thanks for being my best buddy, lending me listening ear always.
Thanks for helping me when I am bogged down with too many chores or when I am tired.

And also “Sorry”.
Sorry for the times of argument when I misunderstand your good intentions.
Sorry for the times I flare up when I am physically/mentally exhausted.
Sorry for feeling frustrated each time I felt you fall short of my “expectations” when you help around the house or take care of our kids.

We’ll continue to communicate and work at this relationship and family.

K's first day at Marymount kindergarten

K is all excited to attend nursery level at Marymount kindergarten today.

But halfway through the car journey, he started to get nervous and wanted me to carry him. What a baby!

Before class starts, all students need to gather for assembly.

Thought I could leave him alone, but he started to cry, so I sat beside him and assured him school will be fun and he can make new friends, sing/dance in class, enjoy story-telling sessions.
Luckily he calmed down, and followed the teacher to his respective class "VIOLET" without any protest.

He looked for me from his class once in a while, but I tried to hide from him.

He especially enjoyed the outdoor period, taking the slides in the playground.

He even cut queue so that he get more rounds of playtime.

He did not do too well during toilet break.
Not sure if he was nervous... cause he could not pass two times upon visiting the toilet.
In the end, he wet his pants on the way home in the car.
Gosh...

I was glad he fed himself though during meal time.

And he told me the porridge was good after class.

But the portion is small as he was very hungry after class.

Need to feed him before class and also prepare some bread/snacks for him so he can eat after class.

All in all, was a good 1st day...

Not too much of a hiccup, except he was rather mischievous and disturbed some of his classmates.

Will let the teachers discipline and correct his actions.

Wonder if K will be able to adapt to taking school bus, cause the waiting time for private transport pickup is rather long too for Ah gong in future.

I wonder why little k can't sleep more @ night.This video is taken @ 3am after her 2am feed. And she still refuse to sleep @ 3.20am now, so I am putting her in her rocker chair beside me, and passing some time posting this entry.Mommy is a day animal.Dealing with a night animal drains her energy totally...Pls change, my little girl.She finally fell asleep at 3.40am.That is a good nearly 2 hours.And I have been awake since 1am to express milk, making total 3 hours tonight.Gosh!

Happy 40th month old darling K!
He will be attending nursery in a few days time.
He did fine during the orientation, just peeping at us, once in a while.
But all in all, he adapted quite well to the new environment, with minor episodes of tantrum, distracted with other kids/toys.
Just hope he stayed this way and not cry/wail once he wears the uniform on the 3rd Jan for the real school day :)

Concluded that K is not jealous simply because he doesn't really care about this little new life's existence at this moment.
Reason being little k still does not get into his territory - His toys, belongings etc.
So there is no reason for K to fight or share at this point.
But as time goes by, we are very sure daily conflicts between them would be unavoidable.
They are afterall kids.
The challenge to educate them will come once little k becomes mobile.

It's becoming more difficult to educate/discipline him.
He's slow in his speech. And because he still can't articulate well, when we do not understand what he asks for, he gets angry and throw a tantrum.
We are trying our best now to get him to talk, but he acts like a parrot, repeating word for word which can be nerve wracking.

We will get there somehow, with more patience to teach him.

k turns 2 months old today. Happy 2nd month, my little darling!

How's life for me?
One word on my mind: Exhaustion. It's tough to handle two kids.
But despite the sacrifices, as a parent, I will perserve to make things work.

Little k is very different from K.
She's harder to feed, more fussy, and even taking medicine is a chore :)
Initially, she drank 110ml, and a good at 3-4hours interval. But after her 1st jab, her appetite reduce vastly and she can now finish only 80ml at one go.
Most of the time she falls asleep half-way through her feeds.
She also refuses to drink if she poos half-way, making all feeding sessions prolonged with diaper changes, feeding and burping.
All in all, it takes about 45 mins to an hour each session.
I get approximately 4 hours of sleep each night, with 2 hour x 2 times waking up session each time for me. That's including expressing milk for k.
Feeding medicine is also a challenge for us. Two weeks ago, she took her 1st dose of 6-in-1 jab, and experience low grade fever.
She cried, wailed, spit out the fever medicine, which was an easy task on K.

Well, other than above, she's a docile little girl who can sleep for hours in her rocker chair.

She likes to talk to it before she falls asleep each time.
It's really fun to watch her innocent act as a baby...

Sibling Jealousy & Rivalry

I felt heart-ached while reflecting on what happened.

K used his head to bang k's, and for the 1st time, I actually did reprimand him quite badly and spank him once.
K actually got angry with me, and refused to acknowlege me there after, neither wanted to hug or get close.
K was also angry with k, and didn't want to get close too.
Guess he was angry with this new little intruder to the family.

Can't believe my 1st episode affected me so much and I am rather upset when K ignored me today.
Especially upset cause it's after all 3 years of undivided attention for K.

Upon reflecting, I could have done a better job handling the situation, to explain to K better about how fragile k is, etc etc.

Guess I was feeling exhausted from the lack of sleep recently... But that is certainly a lousy excuse...

It's time I spend some "alone" time with my darling boy, to ensure he do not feel neglected!
Will arrange some activities with just me and him alone. :)
Cheering myself up and giving me a pat on my shoulder...Tough love!

The big question this month:- How is he adapting to little k?
I must say all is well at the moment.
Next question:- How are we adapting to 2 children now?
Well its all too early. we are still in honeymoon period with the confinement lady around.
The real challenge starts today after she leaves.
We already sense the difference with two children.
It's going to be a 1-to-1 game for now.
It's definitely not going to be a breeze for a while.

At this moment, K is not showing any signs of rejection for this new member in the family.
In fact, he's over-anxious this new little life.
Whenever mei-mei cries, he loves to say "Oh Mei-mei cry!", run to her, reaching way faster than me.
He would say "Mei-mei drink milk" when she does,
"Mei-mei 睡觉!" when she is sleeping.

But he can be a little rough when showing his affections, such as stroking mei-mei very hard.
He doesn't mean any harm, however, we need to ensure he's using too much strength on his fragile sister now.

Having said those positive comments, we still anticipate new challenges to come each day, and we pray for God's strength to guide us through, endeavour to be better parents to our children each day, to be patient/caring/understanding parents to our children.

We bought cakes from Sweetest Moments for relatives since we did not hold a full month party for little k.

Feel very blessed as showered with lots of gifts/well wishes from friends/relatives/colleagues even though this is our 2nd kid.

Ah gong/Ah ma bought her a Hello Kitty pendant with gold chain :) - she does not even know this character yet :)

She probably can wear both for a few years...

We have a new addition to the family, who is little k.
K was in his conversation with us about who's in the family :)

His usual answer would be:-

This month, we have the confinement lady whom he refers to as auntie.

When he said that, we told him auntie was not part of our family...

K's Appletree Playgroup Graduation 2011

Time passes so quickly this year, my darling K has graduated from Appletree playgroup :)
This is his graduation photo.
Somehow, I felt he looked so much older after I gave birth to little k.
Especially when I first came back from the hospital and saw him :) My little boy has grown up...

Baby k finally arrived this world today.
It has been a pregnancy journey full of ups and downs, lots of anxiety and tears, but thank God, we reached today, with the blessing from our Lord above :)
May God continue to guide our family, with this new little gift!
And may K be able to adapt well to his new little sister.
